The Government of Sarajevo Canton has decided to adopt the capital project "Sarajevo Heating-District Heating", worth 50,000,000 euros.
This project includes two components that can be carried out in stages or simultaneously. The first phase includes the installation of a 18MW heat pump in Butile and accompanying preparatory activities, the construction of a pipeline about 6.5 km long from Butile to the boiler room on Alipašino polje and a pipeline of two km from the K5 boiler room to the boiler rooms on Alipašino polje, as well as the installation of components to improve the efficiency of the existing heating system on Alipašino polje.
In the second phase, it is planned to install a second heat pump with a capacity of 18 MW in Butile, the construction of a pipeline 6.5 km long from the boiler room on Alipašino polje to the boiler rooms on Otoka, Čengić Vila 2, in Hrasno and Grbavica, the improvement of thermal substations that are the subject of both phases of the project and the installation of economizers on boilers in boiler rooms that would remain in operation for the needs of maximum system load (at the time of the lowest temperatures).
An integral part of the project is the structure of the source of financing, which lists the total costs per phase from the implementation of the project, submitted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Representatives of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection agreed further activities on the implementation of this project after meetings with representatives of the EBRD.
- As part of the project, the Bank would work on mobilizing grants to produce a feasibility study that would assess the possibilities for sludge treatment at the Butile wastewater treatment plant. At the beginning of this procedure, the possibility is open for the EBRD to provide funds for the preparation of project documentation for the complete project of introduced heat pumps in the district heating system in Sarajevo Canton - explained the Minister of Utility Economy, Infrastructure, Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton Almir Bečarević.
As he added, funds for the own participation of the Sarajevo Canton related to the payment of VAT and other costs on the project will be provided in the budget of the Sarajevo Canton. The borrowing procedure will be carried out in accordance with the borrowing procedures of the Sarajevo Canton on the basis of internal and external debt and the issuance of guarantees, has been notified from the Protocol and Press Service of Sarajevo Canton.
