566,207 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first five months, which is 23.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
Tourists spent 1,202,826 overnight stays in this period, which is 20.2 percent more than in the first five months of 2022, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.
The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in five months is lower by 3.4 percent compared to the same period last year, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists is higher by 36.6 percent.
In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists is 33 percent, and foreign tourists’ 67 percent.
In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the most overnight stays were made by tourists from Croatia, 21.9 percent, followed by guests from Serbia with 17.8 percent, Slovenia 8.9 percent, Turkey 5.9 percent, Germany 4.3 percent, Montenegro 3.6 percent, while tourists from other countries accounted for 34.6 percent of overnight stays.
When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH in the first five months, Kuwait is in first place with 3.9 nights, Ireland with 3.3 nights, Malta 3.1, and Estonia and Qatar with three nights each.
According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was in hotels and similar accommodation, with a participation of 95.1 percent.
