In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in June 2023, tourists made 166,172 visits, which is 0.9 percent more than in May 2023 and 17.3 percent more than in June 2022. In June, 333,409 overnight stays were recorded, which is an increase of 2.4 percent compared to May 2023 and an 8.5 percent increase compared to June 2022. In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists in June was 33 percent, while 67 percent was the participation of foreign tourists.
The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists in June was higher by 1.0 percent compared to May 2023 and by 11 percent lower compared to June 2022, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in June was higher by 3.1 percent compared to May 2023 and by 21.6 percent higher compared to June 2022.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists in June 2023, the most overnight stays were realized by tourists from: Turkey (11.3 percent), Serbia (10.5 percent), Croatia (10 percent), Germany (5.3 percent), Slovenia (5.1 percent), Poland (4.8 percent), the UNITED STATES (4.7 percent), the United Arab Emirates (4.1 percent), Austria (2.9 percent) and France and Saudi Arabia with each (2.8 percent) which is a total of 64.3 percent. Tourists from other countries made 35.7 percent of overnight stays.
In terms of the longest stay of foreign tourists in BiH, in the first place in June were: Albanians with four nights, Kuwaitis with 3.7 nights, Danes 3.4 nights, Katarans with 3.1 nights and French with an average stay of three nights, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
In June 2023, 19,778 rooms, apartments and camping places were available to tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is less by 0.3 percent compared to June 2022 and 43,721 available beds, which is an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the same month in 2022.
In June 2023, hotels and similar accommodation were available to tourists a total of 18,008 rooms and apartments, which is 1.5 percent more than in June 2022 and 38,038 beds, which is 2.8 percent more than in the same month last year.
The net room utilization rate in June 2023 was 36.3 percent and permanent beds 27.5 percent, while in June 2022 the room utilization rate was 32.6 percent and permanent beds 25.6 percent. According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was realized within the activity’s hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 94.1 percent.
