In order to improve the social and ecological functions of forests and forest land at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton and KJP "Sarajevo - šume" d.o.o. Sarajevo, the Government of Sarajevo Canton has adopted a Decision supporting the activities on the implementation of the Project for the improvement of picnic areas Veliko polje.
"Aware of the fact that we are surrounded by incredible natural wealth, with a multitude of potentials, starting from economic, sports and recreational, health, and all together classified in a certain form of tourism, we are determined to manage this natural wealth in the best possible way, taking into account all its potentials, while protecting it and reducing negative impacts on nature and the environment. Igman is particularly famous for the location of Veliko polje which is one of the favorite resorts throughout the year. Therefore, it is very important to enrich the content infrastructural, and even closer to users of all ages and interests", has been announced from the Service for Protocol and Press KS.
The project is planned to build a series of facilities for visitors of Veliki polje in order to enable them to stay better and more pleasant in this area, but also to provide places for setting barbecues in terms of preventive activities to protect forests from fire.
In this area will be provided a series of refrigerators, fireboxes for barbecue, garbage baskets, and designated places for parking vehicles.
It is especially necessary to point out that furniture will be built, i.e., spaces with play facilities for the youngest visitors of Igman.
Enriching the contents of "Veliki polje" will surely significantly increase the number of visitors who are in the current ambience in large numbers noticed at this site due to the climate and clean air, diverse topography, beautiful landscape, sports that require steep slopes or snow...
The total content will be available to all visitors, and what will be required of them in return is to leave behind as they found at the time of arrival, which is why continuous work will be done to raise awareness of the importance of mountains and clean environment, but also to monitor the newly installed infrastructure by hiring eco rangers and forest rangers who will be assigned a treated area, it is listed in the statement.
