The multimedia exhibition "Tales from Templo: Metamorphosis of the Temple through Space and Time", will be officially opened on Saturday, July 1, at the Bosnian Cultural Center of Sarajevo Canton. The exhibition is being held under the auspices of BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović, Anadolu reports.
On this occasion, a press conference was held today at the BKC to discuss the content of this year's festival, which will traditionally last until July 30.
- Duraković: The festival opens for the first time a large exhibition-
BKC director Jasmin Duraković told reporters that for the first time the "Baščaršija Nights" will be opened with one big exhibition. The exhibition "Temple" is the story of the complete history of this area, which is one of the symbols of Sarajevo. It is a Sephardic temple, which over time underwent a series of transformations and today acts as the Bosnian Cultural Center of the Canton.
"This space was built in 1930, was a Jewish temple, suffered during World War II, was an important cultural institution during socialism, but also a symbol of the open during the last war. So, this exhibition covers the complete story and we prepared it for a year. We believe that it was a debt to the history of this area," Duraković explained.
Speaking about the festival, Duraković pointed out the importance of BKC's own production, and announced that within this year's festival they have a guest performance "Chronicle of King Tvrtko" produced by the Bosnian Cultural Center of Sarajevo Canton, based on the novel by Jasmin Imamović, and it will be shown on July 1 at the Cultural Center in Jajce, which will open the competition program of the 42nd Sarajevo Canton Festival. Theatre games in Jajce, the oldest theatre festival in BiH. It was also pointed out that the festival in Novi Pazar will host the play "Prah", directed by Miralem Zubcevic.
"Our program is actually a combination of music, art, film, literary programs, when it comes to music we have from classical music to jazz, blues, ethno, to hip-hop," Duraković added.
- Magoda: An opportunity to show the diversity and beauty of Sarajevo-
Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Kenan Magoda pointed out that BKC, led by Duraković, this year prepared a program that is a true reflection of true Sarajevo.
"Sarajevo is a unique city, there is no one like it in Europe. Sarajevo reflects both the past and the future. At the same moment, we can also feel the charm of the Orient and modern European culture. Sarajevo is also known as European Jerusalem, and should remain so. So, this program is a true reflection of true Sarajevo", said Magoda, pointing out that Sarajevo in the next month will be a combination of artists from various parts of the world, the region and artists from Sarajevo.
"It is an opportunity to show all our diversity and beauty of our city," Magoda added.
After the opening of the exhibition, on the same evening, as part of the first day of the festival, this year's representatives of Croatia will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, the group Let 3. Before them, the audience will be warmed up by the Sarajevo funk-rock grunge band ČINČILA and a great hip-hop attraction from Belgrade, the band Bad Copy.

On the same evening, the audience will be entertained by the young Sarajevo punk rock band Srklet, who are scheduled to release their second album in the fall, as well as the brilliant and numerous club gigs of the hardened Sarajevo jazz-pop band Sunday Stories.
