Investment in railway infrastructure, i.e., construction of railway Koridrora 5c as well as the Doboj - Tuzla - Zvornik railway, is a priority in the work of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the relevant Minister Edin Forto at the opening of the Railway Summit, in Doboj, which was organized in cooperation with the Transport Community.
During the summit, memorandums of cooperation within the Transport Community, between railway companies and the academic community from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Georgia were signed with the aim of establishing a Regional Center for Excellence in Railways.
As a form of realization of more active cooperation with the academic community, Forto signed memorandums on scientific, educational and professional cooperation with the deans of the faculties of transport at the universities of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo Amel Kosovac and Zoran Ćurguz.
He announced that he will strive for the future regional center of excellence in railways to be in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a regional railway hub and which has all the conditions to be a center of education and cooperation.
Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community Matej Zakonjšek emphasized that regional cooperation is a priority of progress and announced an even more active engagement of the Transport Community in the field of improving railway transport in the countries of the region, because the modernization of railway infrastructure in the region is of crucial importance for economic development and the realization of environmental goals.
