The Serbian police abolished the permanent police protection of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade.
Permanent police protection was abolished thirty days ago.
- We were told that the MUP of the Republic of Serbia does not have the capacity to protect our Embassy. They also told us that some other embassies will also be left without constant police protection. However, according to my information, no embassies of the state of the region have had their permanent police protection abolished - she told Istraga.ba bh. ambassador in Belgrade, Aida Smajić.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that they were informed about the termination of police protection at the Embassy and Consulate in Belgrade.
- We received information from the Embassy. Checks and contacts have been initiated - said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade says that the staff employed at the Embassy and Consulate feel insecure.
- We lock ourselves when we are at work. It is almost impossible to work without constant police protection - Ambassador Smajić told us.
The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent several letters to the authorities of the Republic of Serbia, but essentially nothing has changed. Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia announced that BH. diplomats that the police are not in their jurisdiction.
